Technology

The rapid growth of medical information challenges physicians as never before. Physicians have many competing demands on their time requiring information to be managed in new ways. To assist you the residency and hospital utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) over a wireless network. The curriculum is designed to give you the basic computer skills we feel will be most useful to you in your future practice. The Computers in Medicine Curriculum differs from others in our program in that it is self-paced and modular. This is to allow for the differences among residents in their computer skills and computer experiences.

To facilitate your growth in this area each resident is given a new wireless Pocket PC (handheld computer) and a laptop computer. These items belong to you upon completion of residency. During your time here, you will use them at the residency, hospital and from home.

Last, but not least, there is an onsite Computer Support Coordinator available to the residents. This person will assist and teach the residents in computer technologies and computers skills needed in the residency and in the hospital.
