Volunteer at Memorial Hospital
Memorial's mission, vision and values are embodied by the numerous volunteers who provide more than 1,000 hours of service each month. Volunteers play an integral role in nearly every department of the hospital, reassuring anxious families awaiting news after a surgery, greeting and escorting visitors and helping them find their way around campus, delivering flowers and mail to patients, or visiting with patients after surgery.
Where Can I Help?
Volunteers can help in any of the following areas:
• Patient care
• Information ambassadors
• Wheelchair escorts
• Computer support
• Home Care retail assistants
Volunteers give that extra special touch of compassion to the patients and families who pass through the doors of Memorial. Their efforts honor Memorial’s vision for a healthy and vibrant tomorrow.
Benefits
Aside from the satisfaction of “giving back” to the community, Memorial volunteers make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy free parking and meals on the days they volunteer. Volunteers also enjoy discounts at the Atrium Gift Shop on the days they volunteer.
How Does the Auxiliary Make a Difference?
Throughout its 110 year history, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers have contributed thousands of hours of service and millions of dollars to purchase medical equipment for many departments in the hospital, helping to improve the quality of life of patients, families, employees and the greater community.
The Auxiliary has supported nursing scholarships for many years. Most recently the Auxiliary paid for three nurses to complete their masters programs as nurse practitioners in the NICU.
