JCAHO Statement
Memorial Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission
on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Accreditation means
that Memorial Hospital has demonstrated compliance with national standards
for patient safety and quality of care.
Memorial Hospital is genuinely concerned about performance improvement
and patient safety. In response, the Board of Trustees and Administration
have made the decision to invite the JCAHO to conduct a full survey of
the Hospital.
Philosophically, Memorial Hospital views survey not
as a one-time "inspection" of
compliance with standards but rather a continual learning experience. We
welcome the opportunity to have the quality and safety of care for our patients
validated. If you have a concern about patient care or safety please
let our management know by calling 574-647-7976 or writing to us at Patient
Relations, 615 N Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. We would like
to address concerns as soon as possible.
Any recommendations for improvement or consultative advice are taken seriously. Proactive steps are initiated
in concert with management, staff, and the medical staff under full view of
the Board of Trustees.
If you feel we have not addressed your concerns on patient care and safety,
you are invited to address those concerns to the JCAHO by visiting their
web site at http://www.jcaho.org or calling (630) 792-5636.
