Women
In Touch - Introduction
Breast cancer is
not as prevalent among African-American women as it is in white
women, yet the death rate among blacks is much higher. The statistics
are frightening, and they moved some very committed volunteers here
to do something about it.
Women In Touch (WIT)
is a community-based organization of volunteers committed to raising
awareness about breast cancer among African-American women. The
program provides breast cancer education and training, including
breast self examination, and free screening and diagnostic mammograms.
Following is a Learning
History that details Women In Touch. We hope our story moves your
community into action to help reduce the number of lives lost to
breast cancer each year.
