At the Memorial Regional Breast Care Center, our emphasis is on wellness and providing you with all of the tools necessary to maintain good breast health. Education, screening and early detection of breast cancer are important weapons against the disease. Stopping breast cancer before it has a chance to affect your life means putting the focus on your health, not on cancer.
The Memorial Regional Breast Care Center is committed to providing you with a full range of breast health services, from screening mammography and education to diagnostic procedures and treatment programs, offered in the pleasant surrounding of two locations: Memorial Regional Breast Care Center or the Memorial Lighthouse Medical Imaging Center. Our team approach to breast care services offers innovation, compassion, and support.
We know the fears and concerns that breast cancer screening can arouse. That's why each woman who comes to the Breast Care Center is treated with the utmost care, respect and dignity. You will be supported throughout screening, diagnosis and treatment by physicians, nurses and technologists who stay current on the latest knowledge and technology in breast care. While you are in our care, you'll have access to the newest information on cancer-related issues to help you and your family better understand your condition and treatment program.
We offer a comprehensive team approach that includes regular Breast Forums, a time when health professionals from all areas of breast cancer treatment - radiologists, oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, nurses, technologists and therapists - come together to develop a cohesive plan of care. This high-quality, cost-effective method improves the quality of your medical treatment by bringing the best people and resources together in one place with your best interest in mind.
The Memorial Regional Breast Care Center has been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. This designation is awarded only to facilities that have received accreditation by the American College of Radiology in stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and by the ACR or an FDA-approved state accrediting body in mammography.
Unique to this region, Memorial Regional Breast Care Center (MRBCC) has nurses with backgrounds in oncology to help women navigate through their diagnosis of breast cancer. The MRBCC nurse is available to talk with patients and their families in person or by phone about their personal diagnosis and what the next steps will be for the patients. The nurse navigator provides each newly diagnosed patient at Memorial Hospital an individualized Personal Care Planner. The nurse will follow up with patients as they go through their surgeries and treatments, providing them with educational information and emotional support.
